Client Spotlight: Disney+ Movie Launch

Rhythm clients include celebrities, movie studios, production houses, movie studio architects and more, so it was a natural progression to work with the real-life inspiration for the Disney+ movie Safety. We were approached to help Ray Ray McElrathbey share his message in advance of the movie’s launch to generate massive publicity. 

The movie shares Ray Ray’s story as a shining example of perseverance triumphing through repeated adversity and the message of how family above everything can impact an entire community. After his freshman year, Ray Ray obtained temporary custody of his 10-year-old brother Fahmarr to prevent him from going into the foster care system. Aided by his football teammates and the Clemson community, Ray Ray succeeded on the field while simultaneously raising and caring for his younger brother. 

While the country was dealing with a pandemic, all in-person media tours were cancelled and shifted to virtual opportunities. We facilitated and secured literally hundreds of interviews that ranged from People Magazine to Entertainment Tonight television. We developed key messages and media trained Ray Ray in preparation for interview Q&As. 

We extended Ray Ray’s reach by continuing to secure interviews for months following the movie premiere. We hosted a Reddit AMA on a subreddit of 20.7 million people. His AMA was the number one trending event for more than a week. We are seeking and securing paid speaking engagements and helped him establish the 501c3 Ray Ray Safety Net Foundation to help youth facing a similar situation as his own.
